Hyderabad city boasts some of the finest gardens in the country.
One of the city's oldest and largest garden is located in the centre
of the city. It was built in the year 1846 by Nizam Government. No
wonder then that it is one of the most frequented spots for school
picnics. This beautifully laid out garden also houses two museums
the A P State Archaelogical Museum and the Health Museum, a park
where kids can play, a mini school (Jawahar Bal Bhavan) for children
to learn fine arts, and an auditorium (the Indira Gandhi
Auditorium). The Jubilee Hall, the Lalitha Kala Thoranam (an
open-air theater which is a venue for many film festivals, fashion
shows and beauty pageants), the building of the Department of
Horticulture and a mosque are the other fascinating places in the
premises.
Beside this garden the beautiful white structure is the Andhra
Pradesh Assembly building with green lawns. In 1985 a New
Legislative Assembly hall was inagurated by the then Prime Minister
of India Late Sri. Rajiv Gandhi.
Recently the government has added a huge statue of Mahatma Gandhi
sitting in the praying posture looks peaceful for all. The statue
adds to the beauty of the park.
