Location
Nizam Sagar Dam is constructed on a tributary of Godavari region in
the Nizamabad district. The place lies to the north west of the
famous Pearl City or the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The distance
from the state capital, Hyderabad, is about 145 kilometres and the
towns featuring the dam include Achampet and Banjapalle.
Overview
Nizam Sagar Dam is constructed on Manjira River, which constitutes
a tributary of the Godavari River. Nizam Sagar Dam is a massive dam
covering about three kilometres of land area between Achampet and
Banjapalle. The massive dam is one major multi purpose projects put
down by the government of India. The dam also features a traffic
road above it that is as much as 14 feet wide. The construction site
is in itself an attraction. The site is resplendent with a scenic
beauty that traverses beyond imagination. The place happens to be a
great picnic spot and needs a little more attention to fully utilize
the vast resources around.
Attractions
Nizam Sagar Dam is itself a great a great attraction. The place
provides for tranquil ambience which can almost be felt from a good
distance. The lake that follows, at the site, from the dam is
fascinating. The lake water is used to irrigate the lush fields
located nearby.
