Location
In the backdrop of Hyderabad, Araku Valley is a far off place but a
good one for a week end trip. The place is located close to the
Orissa state border, of course in Andhra Pradesh and more than 700
kms from the state capital Hyderabad. Araku Valley is a lovely
place, the gateway for which is provided by yet another important
district, Vishakhapatnam.
Overview
The valley is spread good over 36 kms, encompassing small
mountains, lush green fields and beautiful pathways. Araku is
interspersed at many places with thick forests and natures seems to
have a good hold about everything. The passage through the valley is
accompanied by 46 tunnels, bridges, plantation lands and indeed a
pleasant weather.
Attractions
Araku Valley is a whole piece of entertainment, a major chunk near
Vishakhapatnam district. The place offers great opportunities for
trekking. Interwoven hills, adventurous tracks, woodland,
plantations and clear blue sky. The valley is a great place to
chill, especially during hot summer months. The place is very much a
hill station in essence. The train travel is a wonderful experience,
the station being the highest among broad gauges. The coffee
plantation and picturesque view of the valley are very resourceful.
For a peaceful, clean and green environment there is one place and
that is Araku Valley.
Accessibility
The place has a railhead and thus train service is available.
Besides railways the state tourism agency also runs bus services and
provides for a guided tour from the Vishakahapatnam and other
places. From Hyderabad city it is convenient to travel by train.
Accommodation
There are provisions for guest houses at Araku Valley. Privately
owned, the guest houses are quite nice and with adequate facilities.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism also provides accommodation, at Mayuri
Complex.
